Terms of Use

Effective May 10, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the CICSC platform at cic-sc.org, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. The Common Interest Community Standards Council (CICSC) reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

2. Platform Purpose

CICSC provides educational resources, governance standards, templates, and related materials for volunteer board members of common interest communities (HOAs, condominiums, cooperatives, and master-planned communities). The platform is informational and educational in nature.

3. Not Legal, Financial, or Professional Advice

CICSC resources do not constitute legal advice, accounting advice, tax advice, engineering advice, insurance advice, or reserve study services. All content is provided for general educational purposes only. Board members and associations must consult qualified professionals — attorneys, CPAs, reserve study specialists, and licensed engineers — for matters requiring professional judgment or legal interpretation specific to their association.

No attorney-client relationship, fiduciary relationship, or professional engagement is created by your use of this platform or any CICSC resource.

4. Accounts and Membership

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
  • Free membership accounts are for individual use only and may not be shared.
  • CICSC reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Membership Plans and Billing

  • Premium memberships are billed on a monthly or annual basis as selected at enrollment.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues through the end of the paid billing period. No prorated refunds are issued for partial periods.
  • CICSC reserves the right to modify pricing with reasonable notice to existing subscribers.
  • Payment processing is handled by Stripe. By purchasing, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on the CICSC platform — including governance standards, articles, templates, checklists, course materials, and the CIC-BOS credential framework — is the intellectual property of CICSC and is protected by copyright.

Members may use downloaded materials for internal governance purposes within their association. You may not reproduce, redistribute, resell, or publish CICSC materials without written permission.

7. CIC-BOS Credentials

  • Credentials are awarded upon successful completion of the applicable assessment and payment of applicable fees.
  • Credentials are non-transferable and issued to the individual who completed the program.
  • CICSC reserves the right to revoke credentials for violations of the Code of Ethics or misrepresentation.
  • Credential verification is available at cic-sc.org/verify.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Share account credentials or enable unauthorized access
  • Reproduce or redistribute CICSC materials without authorization
  • Misrepresent your credentials, affiliation, or professional status
  • Attempt to interfere with platform security or functionality

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The platform and all content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. CICSC does not warrant that content is complete, accurate, current, or applicable to your specific circumstances.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CICSC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform or reliance on its content.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Texas.
